ICHI Supplies Noise-Blocking Materials for Samsung's New 'Galaxy Z' Series
ICHI, a company specializing in advanced materials and components, announced on July 23 that it is supplying key functional materials responsible for noise blocking and precision buffering to Samsung Electronics' foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold Ultra, and Z Flip8 models.
The supplied products are radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding gasket components and high-performance foam materials, each of which can be applied to up to four locations per device.
On July 22, at 2:00 p.m. local time (10:00 p.m. Korean time), Samsung Electronics held its 'Galaxy Unpacked 2026' launch event at Old Billingsgate in London, UK, where it unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold8 series and Z Flip8.
With the widespread adoption of on-device artificial intelligence (AI) features in the latest smartphones, computational loads are increasing. As computing demands rise, 'electronic noise'—unnecessary voltage generated in internal circuits—also becomes stronger. If this noise is not properly emitted, it can result in performance degradation, such as communication delays and touch malfunctions.
Because foldable smartphones must accommodate a folding structure within a slim form factor, internal space is limited, and the gaps where components are applied are narrow. ICHI's gaskets realize both compressibility and conductivity, even in such tight spaces.
The foam material plays a crucial role in maintaining the physical precision of the ultra-slim foldable structure. Over the past two years, ICHI has continued to invest in and develop RF materials and foam material technologies, which have now been incorporated into this mass supply for new smartphones. Based on this, the company plans to expand its technology applications into future growth industries, such as automotive electronics, physical AI robots, and energy storage systems (ESS).
