Strengthening Ties with the National Pension Service
Starwood Capital Group, a global alternative investment manager entrusted with managing a portion of the National Pension Service's assets, has opened a new office in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do.
The National Pension Service announced on the morning of July 22 that Chairman Sungjoo Kim attended the opening ceremony of Starwood’s new Jeonju office, held in Manseong-dong, Jeonju, Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province.
The event was attended by Starwood Capital Group founder and chairman Barry Sternlicht, Michael Lefton, Global Head of Capital Raising and Investor Relations, and Choi Youngjae, the firm's Korea Country Head.
This is the second office Starwood has opened in Korea, following its office in the Magok One Grove district of Seoul last year. Excluding its headquarters in the United States, this is the first time the company has established two offices in a single country. Starwood has been entrusted with the National Pension Service's overseas real estate alternative investment management since 2012.
Barry Sternlicht, Chairman of Starwood, stated, "With the opening of our Jeonju office, we look forward to further strengthening our relationship with the National Pension Service as well as expanding Starwood’s role within the Korean capital market."
