KOSPI Moves Sideways After 5% Surge... KOSDAQ Rebounds After Initial Drop
Foreign Investor Buying Continues
The KOSPI index, which rose on the back of buying by foreign investors, is currently moving sideways. The KOSDAQ index, after an earlier decline, has turned to an upward trend.
As of 12:30 pm on July 22, the KOSPI index was trading at 7,100.47, up 352.52 points (5.22%). By investor category, foreigners have made a net purchase of 1.9482 trillion won, while individuals and institutions have made net sales of 1.8112 trillion won and 135.4 billion won, respectively.
The KOSPI index, which triggered a buy-side circuit breaker (temporary suspension of program buy orders) due to sharp gains early in the session, climbed as high as 7,166 points, but then reversed downward, dropping to 7,017.83 around 12:15 pm. After that, it switched back to an upward trend.

View original imageBy sector, except for medical & precision equipment (-2.31%), textiles & apparel (-0.33%), and food & beverages & tobacco (-0.04%), all sectors are showing strength. Construction rose by 7.72%, followed by machinery & equipment (5.48%), electrical & electronics (5.41%), telecommunications (5.18%), manufacturing (4.86%), and transport equipment & parts (4.78%).
Among the top market cap stocks, Samsung Electronics, in first place, is trading at 272,000 won, up 13,000 won (5%) from the previous session. SK hynix, ranked second, is up 5.8%. Other notable gainers include Doosan (13.8%), HD Hyundai (10.6%), SK Telecom (10.4%), SK Inc. (9.5%), Hyundai Mobis (9.2%), LG Electronics (8.6%), and Hyosung Heavy Industries (7.8%).
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is trading at 771.32, up 17.98 points (2.39%). After falling to 763.77 around 12:15 pm, the index has turned upward. Foreigners and institutions have made net sales of 126.8 billion won and 114.2 billion won, respectively, while individuals have made a net purchase of 241.7 billion won.

Among the top market cap stocks, the movement is mixed. Gainers include SPG (28.4%), Rainbow Robotics (20.4%), Robotis (17%), Wooree Technologies (8.8%), Hyundai Movex (8.2%), Koh Young (8%), Korea Optical Cable (7.1%), and Leeno Industrial (5.1%). On the other hand, L&C Bio (-7.6%), PSK Holdings (-5.5%), PSK (-5.2%), HLB (-5.1%), Padu (-4.5%), and VM (-4.4%) are among the decliners.
