According to Yangpyeong County on July 22, the airport bus route connecting Yangpyeong to Gimpo and Incheon airports received approval for passenger transportation business on June 2, following consent from Gyeonggi Province. Once the vehicles are delivered, the route will operate four times a day.

Until now, Yangpyeong residents had to transfer to airport buses in nearby areas such as Donong, Guri, or Cheongnyangni or use the KTX and airport rail lines to reach the airports. The time and inconvenience involved in these transfers had been a persistent issue, leading to ongoing requests from local residents for improvements.

The newly operated airport bus will start in Hongcheon, pass through Yangpyeong, and connect directly to Gimpo Airport and Incheon International Airport. The bus will stop at Yangpyeong Terminal and the Yangpyeong Interchange (IC), then travel on the First Metropolitan Ring Expressway to the airports.

Geumgang Express, the transportation provider, applied for approval of passenger transportation business in May and began preparations for operations after receiving route consent from Gyeonggi Province.

This marks the resumption of the Yangpyeong airport bus service after approximately 12 years. Previously, Yangpyeong County launched an airport bus route operating three times a day in 2008, but the service was discontinued in 2014 due to continued losses, and the route was abolished following the return of the license.

The establishment of this new airport bus route is a transportation network expansion project reconnecting Yangpyeong to major airports in the capital area, expected to enhance residents' travel convenience and improve regional accessibility.

Governor Jeon Jinseon of Yangpyeong County stated, "With the launch of a direct airport bus from Yangpyeong to the airports, the inconvenience caused by multiple transfers for residents will be greatly relieved. We will work closely with the relevant agencies and transportation operators so that the vehicles can be delivered quickly and residents can use the airport bus as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, Yangpyeong County plans to support the prompt launch and stable operation of the airport bus service, while continuously monitoring residents' public transport demand and convenience to further enhance public transportation services.
