Hecto Innovation Launches "WeatherDori Flood Risk Map Around Me"
Hecto Innovation's WeatherDori has introduced the "Flood Risk Map Around Me."
According to WeatherDori on July 22, the "Flood Risk Map Around Me" is a service that displays the risk of flooding in the surrounding area based on the user's current location, categorizing the risk into five levels: Danger, Caution, Alert, Interest, and Low, and marking them on a map. The flood risk level is determined by combining rainfall data with the five-tier disaster risk district ratings provided by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Disaster Safety Data Sharing Platform.
Users can also check the expected precipitation for the next 12 hours in each disaster risk district, using data from the Korea Meteorological Administration. Thanks to this, users of the "Flood Risk Map Around Me" can easily identify regional flood risk areas at a glance on the map, without needing to search for weather by region or consult information from multiple agencies.
In particular, WeatherDori provides real-time CCTV footage of roads and other areas linked to disaster risk districts within the app, for situations where it is difficult to assess on-site conditions based only on the information shown on the map. Through this, WeatherDori users can check various weather updates and live road conditions all at once, allowing them to adjust their departure times, change travel routes, move vehicles to safer locations, and proactively prepare for flooding risks.
WeatherDori has installed its own weather observation devices in 17 locations, including major commercial districts and transportation hubs in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, as well as baseball stadiums across Korea, providing live weather information for the areas near these observation points directly on the map. This enables users to quickly detect sudden weather changes within their daily living areas, which may not be captured by broader area forecasts.
