4th Anniversary NewJeans, Four-Member Video Including Minji After 16 Months...Will They Resume Activities?
ADOR: "Activity Plans and Format to Be Announced After Discussions"
After a 16-month hiatus caused by an exclusive contract dispute, the group NewJeans appeared in an official video as a four-member unit including Minji.
On July 22, ADOR released a special film celebrating NewJeans' 4th anniversary through the group's official YouTube channel. The video features all four members—Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein. This marks NewJeans’ first team content release in 16 months, following their last group promotional activity in March 2025.
The video, which begins against the backdrop of a summer night under the moonlight, shows Minji, Hyein, Hanni, and Haerin coming together one by one, joining hands and gazing in the same direction. Four individual videos featuring each member were also released simultaneously. Additionally, rabbit images symbolizing NewJeans’ fanbase, 'Bunnies', are featured throughout the film.
This is the first group content NewJeans has released since their dispute over the exclusive contract with the company. In November 2024, following the dismissal of former ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin, the NewJeans members declared the termination of their exclusive contract. ADOR filed for an injunction to prohibit independent activities, and in March 2025, the court granted the injunction, leading NewJeans to completely suspend their activities after their performance at ComplexCon in Hong Kong.
Subsequently, in the main lawsuit in October 2025, where ADOR sought confirmation of the validity of the exclusive contract, the court once again sided with ADOR. The first-instance ruling became final in November that year, as the members did not appeal. Following this turning point, Haerin and Hyein formally announced their return to ADOR in November, and Hanni in December. While ADOR notified Danielle of the termination of her contract and filed a damages suit in December, negotiations for Minji’s return continued in a positive direction.
The music industry is closely watching whether NewJeans will fully resume activities. Some speculate that the negotiations between Minji and ADOR regarding her status have made considerable progress. An ADOR representative stated, “This film was produced to celebrate our 4th anniversary and share the occasion with our fans,” adding, “We will announce specific plans and formats for future activities once internal discussions are fully concluded.”
