Emart and Lotte Mart will hold large-scale discount events focusing on ingredients for health-boosting meals, such as whole chicken, eel, and abalone, ahead of the upcoming “Jungbok” on July 25.
According to the industry on July 22, Emart will hold its “Jungbok Daejeon” event from July 23 to July 29, offering up to 50% off on health-boosting products like whole chicken, eel, and abalone.
Domestically produced “whole young chicken” and “native chicken for baeksuk” will be sold for 3,627 won and 9,748 won, respectively. “Antibiotic-free two-pack young chickens” will be offered at a 40% discount for Shinsegae Point members.
Seafood will also be discounted. “Prepared freshwater eel (100g)” and “Wando live abalone” will be offered at 50% off for Shinsegae Point members, and “domestic fresh shrimp (100g)” will be available for 3,280 won. On July 24 only, “Hangadeuk Hongge Seafood Soup (1,585g)” will receive a 30% discount for Shinsegae Point members, and an additional 20% of the purchase amount will be credited as e-money.
Meat products are also featured at special prices. “Australian grain-fed chuck eye roll” will be available for 1,990 won with a 50% discount for Shinsegae Point members, and “U.S. pork belly and pork neck (100g)” will be sold for 1,456 won each, a 30% discount.
Convenient ready-to-eat health foods have also been prepared. “Green bean samgyetang” and “two-pack eel nutrition bibimbap” will each be sold for 9,980 won, alongside products such as “king marinated grilled eel” and “eel gangjeong.”
Seasonal produce discounts are also available. “Campbell grapes (1.5kg)” and “Daehak glutinous corn (10 pieces)” will be sold for 14,980 won and 6,986 won, respectively, for Shinsegae Point members. “Farmers Pick black seedless watermelon” gets a 3,000 won discount, and “potatoes (2kg)” and “baby napa cabbage” are available for 4,886 won and 1,488 won, respectively.
Jung Woojin, marketing manager at Emart, said, “Due to the burden of dining out costs, more customers are preparing health food at home or seeking convenient meal options. We have prepared health-boosting ingredients, ready-to-eat foods, and seasonal fresh produce at affordable prices.”
Lotte Mart will also hold a special discount event during the same period in celebration of Jungbok, featuring health-boosting foods and popular summer items.
In conjunction with the agricultural and livestock discount support program, “Sangsaeng whole chicken for baeksuk (950g)” will be sold for 5,592 won, and “two types of young chicken (500g each)” will be 3,792 won each. “Bokseason smoked chicken slice” will be offered at a discount of 2,000 won per item for purchases of two or more packs.
For ready-to-eat meals, “whole eel rice bowl” will be available for 5,990 won and “whole smoked duck” for 13,990 won. From July 23 to July 25, all room-temperature samgyetang items will be 15% off when purchased with a promotional card. Additionally, “Yorihada Ganghwa Island chicken soup” and “Yorihada domestic whole chicken drumstick samgyetang” will be sold at a discount of about 35% to L.Point members.
Seafood will also be discounted through the “Korea Seafood Festival” held in cooperation with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, offering 20% off items like “prepared freshwater eel,” “Wando live abalone,” and “domestic fresh shrimp.” Wando live abalone will receive an additional 50% discount for purchases made with the promotional card, and prepared freshwater eel will get an extra 20% discount for promotional card payments.
Fruits and vegetables are also included in the discounts. Jeju greenhouse tangerines, shine muscat grapes, Seongju melon, and Geobong grapes will be sold in connection with the agricultural and livestock discount support program. “Brix-selected muskmelon” will be available for 10,000 won when two melons are purchased from July 24 to July 26. “Potatoes (2kg)” will be 5,560 won, while “paprika (500g)” and “domestic king kabocha pumpkin” will each be available for 2,992 won.
