Pyeongtaek City to Add Four More Rush Hour Trips on Route 6801 Metropolitan Bus Starting August 3
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Choi Wonyong) is expanding the rush hour service of the 6801 metropolitan bus route to alleviate commuting inconveniences for residents traveling to and from the greater Seoul area.

View original imagePyeongtaek City announced on July 21 that, starting from August 3, service on the 6801 metropolitan bus route (Pyeongtaek Jije Station~Seongnam Yatap Station) will increase by four round trips on weekdays. Specifically, two additional trips will be added during morning rush hour and two during evening rush hour, aiming to ease traffic congestion during commuting times.
The 6801 route is a major metropolitan line heavily used by commuters traveling toward Seongnam and Pangyo. Due to a recent increase in ridership, some time slots have been consistently fully booked, resulting in frequent complaints from passengers regarding long waits and overcrowding.
The city expects that the added service will decrease waiting times during commuting hours and reduce overcrowding inside vehicles, thereby improving passenger convenience.
Furthermore, even after the increase in service, Pyeongtaek City plans to continuously monitor the ridership and congestion levels of the metropolitan buses serving the capital area, and to improve operational systems by reflecting citizens' feedback, in order to provide more convenient public transportation services.
Mayor Choi Wonyong stated, “Metropolitan buses are a crucial means of transportation for citizens commuting to the Seoul metro area. Reducing rush-hour congestion is a core task in improving transport services in ways commuters can truly feel. We hope that with the increase in service starting August 3, citizens will enjoy a more comfortable and safe commute.”
