Bucheon City Signs 'New Deal Policy for Economic Vitality' Agreement with Private Construction Firms... Expanding Local Company Contracts
On July 21, Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it had signed the "Bucheon-Style New Deal Policy for Economic Vitality" business agreement with seven private construction contractors to expand participation of local companies and workers in construction projects.
The agreement was created to boost the local economy by increasing the opportunities for local companies to win construction orders and by expanding the employment of local workers. The participating contractors included Lotte Engineering & Construction, Doosan Engineering & Construction, Strax, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, DL Construction, Hyosung Heavy Industries, and HL D&I Halla, all of which are currently undertaking construction projects in Bucheon.
These contractors have committed to giving priority to purchasing equipment and materials needed for their projects from Bucheon-based companies and to expanding the hiring of local workers. They will also join efforts to use eco-friendly construction machinery and to practice carbon neutrality, as well as work to strengthen safety management at construction sites and prevent wage arrears, thereby contributing to the creation of a sound construction environment.

Jo Yong-ik, Mayor of Bucheon, said, "This agreement marks the starting point for mutually beneficial cooperation where the local community, business, and government all grow together, and constitutes a meaningful promise for local economic revitalization."
