LIG Defense & Aerospace (LIG D&A) and LG AI Research are joining forces to jointly develop a next-generation command and control system based on super-large artificial intelligence (AI).

View original imageOn July 20, LIG D&A announced that it had signed a “Memorandum of Understanding for the Development of Command and Control System Technology Based on Super Large Artificial Intelligence” with LG AI Research at its Seoul office. The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Hyunki, Head of C5ISR Business Division at LIG D&A, and Lee Hwayoung, Head of Business Division at LG AI Research, along with executives from both companies.
The two companies plan to jointly develop next-generation command and control system technology that leverages defense-specialized large language models (LLMs) and generative AI to support commanders in making swift and accurate decisions. They will also work together on developing real-time battlefield situation analysis and AI agent-based automated command and control technologies.
The plan is to integrate LG AI Research’s large language model technology with the intelligent command and control system expertise that LIG D&A has accumulated through major defense projects, thereby enhancing competitiveness in the defense AI command and control sector.
Going forward, the two companies intend to apply super-large AI inference and generation technologies to a wide array of weapon systems, including hyper-connected technologies and manned-unmanned teamed systems required to realize the Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) environment.

Through this collaboration, they aim to jointly pursue research and development of future-oriented weapon systems that can analyze rapidly changing battlefield conditions in real time and support commanders’ decision-making.
