The '2026 First Half Science Reporting Award' was open to domestic reporting in the fields of science, medicine, pharmaceutical biotechnology, and environmental meteorology published between December of last year and May of this year. A total of 24 articles were recommended and submitted.
The association selected the final five outstanding planning and investigative reports based on a rigorous two-stage evaluation system. This consisted of a nomination committee made up of current and former journalists and a judging panel of experts in journalism and science, ranking the articles by score.
One of the judges commented, "Overall, the nominated articles provided in-depth analysis of timely topics and were of high quality. We selected reports that explored socially significant medical science issues through vivid on-site coverage and diverse perspectives." The judge added, "Outstanding research achievements tend to gain more public attention after receiving an award. I hope that the excellent science articles selected this time will be further introduced to the public through multiple channels."
