Government Joint Inspection on 'GTX Samsung Station Rebar Omission' Extended by Four Months
Comprehensive Analysis to Continue Until November
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on July 20 that the joint inspection period for construction errors at Samsung Station on the Metropolitan Express Railway (GTX) will be extended by four months.

View original imageThe government joint inspection team began investigating in May, reviewing safety management for the section of GTX Samsung Station where rebar was omitted, as well as assessing the appropriateness of the construction process and analyzing the causes of construction errors.
The inspection team plans to conduct additional data collection and rebar testing, with a comprehensive analysis of the overall structural safety, until November 20, 2026.
The authorities will consider imposing sanctions on the construction company and will also establish measures to prevent recurrence.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated, "We are extending the inspection team's operating period to more thoroughly verify safety and analyze the causes," adding, "We will ensure strict safety for the GTX Samsung Station section."
