Mareuk Neighborhood Park Water Play Area Opens for the First Time This Year

Seogu District in Gwangju, Jeonnam-Gwangju Metropolitan City, is opening its urban park water play facilities free of charge in response to the ongoing heatwave, offering citizens a summer place to relax.
On July 20th, Seogu District announced that it will operate five water play facilities for free from the 21st to August 15th. These include the Mareuk Neighborhood Park, Sangmu Citizen Park, Ssanghak Children's Park water play area, Uncheon Lake Park, and the Yeomju Children's Park ground fountain.
Notably, with the Mareuk Neighborhood Park water play area newly established for the first time this year, it is expected to provide more options for children and families visiting the facilities.
The water play areas are open on weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and on weekends and public holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The facilities are available for children aged 13 and under; children under 7 must be accompanied by a guardian. The facilities will be closed every Monday for maintenance and purification system inspections.

View original imageThe ground fountains at Uncheon Lake Park and Yeomju Children's Park will be in operation from Tuesday to Sunday each week and are open to all users without any age restrictions.
Seogu District is also focusing on preventing safety accidents. Prior to opening, safety inspections, water quality testing, and electrical safety checks were completed, and two safety managers are stationed at each water play area at all times. During the operation period, routine water quality checks, facility inspections, cleaning, and disinfection will be conducted, with an emergency response system in place.
In addition to the park water play facilities, resident participation summer water play events will also be held in various neighborhoods. Beginning with the 3rd "Our Neighborhood Summer Pool-cation" in Hwajeong 1-dong and the "Dagachi POOL Party" in Nongseong 1-dong on July 25th, more events will follow: "Cheombeongcheombeong Picnic Season 2" in Kumho 2-dong on July 30th, "Hwasa Water Play Season 3" in Hwajeong 4-dong on July 31st, the 2nd "Noeulmaeul Water Lock" in Seochang-dong on August 1st, "Chaek-Yeoreum Book-cation" in Dongcheon-dong on August 8th, and "Let's Play Summer! Aimiso Yudeok Waterland Season 2" in Yudeok-dong on August 22nd.
