More than just a food market, this area plays the vital role of an urban regeneration catalyst, connecting isolated commercial districts and attracting foot traffic to the area.
Currently, under the systematic management of the Namgu Urban Regeneration Village Cooperation Center, the Baegun Plaza Street Food Zone features active participation from young entrepreneurs and local small businesses, offering trendy and diverse street food menus. Thanks to thorough hygiene management and innovative flavors, word of mouth is spreading, drawing visitors on weekends as well as on weekday nights.
The success of the Street Food Zone is particularly attributed to its 'synergy effect' with surrounding urban regeneration infrastructure. Its close proximity to the visually striking media wall, along with regularly held street festivals, busking performances, and flea markets, is transforming the area into a ‘cultural space for lingering’ that satisfies all five senses, beyond simply being a place to pass through.
Building on the activation of the Street Food Zone, the Namgu Urban Regeneration Village Cooperation Center plans to further strengthen linkages with the Pureungil Park walkway and nearby traditional markets. The strategy is to connect the entire Baegun Plaza into a massive urban culture and tourism belt, thereby ensuring the sustainability of urban regeneration efforts.
