AI-Drawn Futures Also Invited... Science and ICT Ministry Holds ‘Future Imagination One-Cut Cartoon’ Contest
Theme: "Our Lives Changed by Science and Technology in 10 Years"
Outstanding Works to Be Preserved in a Time Capsule Until 2036
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 20th that, together with the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, it will hold the “Future Imagination in Science and Technology One-Cut Cartoon Contest,” inviting the public to freely imagine and express how society might change through science and technology.
The contest theme is “Our Lives Changed by Science and Technology in 10 Years.” Participants are asked to depict the future society in a single scene.
In particular, this contest features a separate category for one-cut cartoons created using generative artificial intelligence (AI), in addition to original one-cut cartoon submissions. Participants in the AI category must also submit the prompts they used in production. Both categories will be divided into student and adult divisions.
Entries will be accepted from today until 4 p.m. on September 18 through the online submission system of the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity. A total of 18 works will be selected, with a combined prize fund of 20.5 million won. Four grand prize winners will receive the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and ICT Award.
Major winning entries will be sealed in a time capsule during the opening ceremony of the 2027 Korea Science Festival. The time capsule will be opened in 2036 and used as a reference to see how closely the futures imagined in 2026 resemble reality ten years later.
