Samsung SDS Launches Domestic NPU Subscription Service Using FuriosaAI’s ‘Renegade’
Expansion of Sovereign AI Infrastructure Based on Domestic NPU
Samsung SDS announced on July 20 that it has launched a neural processing unit as a service (NPUaaS) based on Furiosa AI's second-generation neural processing unit (NPU) "Renegade (RNGD)" on the Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP).
Renegade, Furiosa AI's second-generation NPU, is an AI inference-focused neural processing unit developed in Korea. The product has been recognized for its superior power efficiency and cost-effectiveness compared to graphics processing units (GPUs) when applying pre-trained AI models to real-world services, such as generating responses, analyzing documents, and identifying images.

Depending on corporate demand and data volume, customers can select and utilize as many NPUs as required, and combine them with other SCP offerings such as high-performance storage, computing, and high-speed networking.
Samsung SDS plans to provide the new NPUaaS within the sovereign cloud environment of SCP, making it available even to public sector clients subject to security regulations.
With the launch of NPUaaS, Samsung SDS expects to expand its range of compute services from existing GPU as a service (GPUaaS) to NPU-powered infrastructure, thereby broadening customer choices in AI infrastructure, advancing the adoption of domestically developed NPU-based solutions, and supporting the development of sovereign AI systems.
