Raonsecure Supplies PQC to NH NongHyup Property & Casualty Insurance, Accelerating Expansion in Financial Sector
Raonsecure, an AI security and authentication platform company, is accelerating its expansion into the financial sector by supplying a post-quantum cryptography (PQC)-based security system for NH NongHyup Property & Casualty Insurance’s digital transformation project.
On July 20, Raonsecure announced that it has signed a contract to apply PQC technology for the “Customer-Centric Digital Channel Transformation” project being led by NH NongHyup Property & Casualty Insurance.
This contract is Raonsecure’s second financial sector order, following last month’s first-ever financial PQC supply deal with KDB Life Insurance. The company highlighted that, building on this momentum, it is expanding its foothold in the financial sector and is currently in discussions to introduce and supply PQC to more than 10 major financial institutions, while also engaging in related talks with public organizations.
This project will see the adoption of Raonsecure’s mobile app virtual keypad solution 'TouchEn mTranskey,' as well as the electronic signature solutions 'Key# Wireless' and 'Key# Biz.' TouchEn mTranskey protects key information entered by customers using PQC technology, while Key# Wireless and Key# Biz apply post-quantum cryptography during authentication and electronic signature processes in mobile and PC environments, respectively.
Through this, NH NongHyup Property & Casualty Insurance will establish a quantum-secure system that spans all core areas of digital financial services—from customer data entry to identity verification and transaction authorization. The company expects this proactive response to potential security threats to current cryptographic systems following the commercialization of quantum computing to enhance the safety of digital financial services.
Recently, both financial institutions and public organizations are recognizing the realistic security threat posed by the "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later (HNDL)" attack, in which encrypted data is collected in advance and then decrypted later once quantum computers become commercially available. This has significantly increased the need for a transition to PQC.
Government policy is also driving market growth. An amendment to the “Act on Quantum Science Technology and Quantum Industry Promotion”—scheduled to take effect in November—includes provisions supporting the establishment of quantum security systems as a safeguard against the risk of conventional cryptography being rendered obsolete by advances in quantum computing.
Raonsecure has continued to develop and commercialize PQC technology applicable in real-world financial and public-sector environments. In 2024, the company incorporated the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) CRYSTALS-Kyber algorithm into Key# Wireless and Key# Biz, and established a system that also supports Korean post-quantum cryptography (KpqC).
The company has also secured key certifications, obtaining conformity validation under the National Intelligence Service’s Korea Cryptographic Module Validation Program (KCMVP) and certification under the U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS 140-2), laying the foundation to meet the demanding security requirements of both domestic and international financial institutions and public organizations.
There are practical use cases from the field as well. Last year, Raonsecure participated as the primary contractor for the “PQC Pilot Transition Support Project” in the healthcare sector, managed by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA). The company implemented PQC-based segment encryption for Severance Hospital’s first open medical data platform in Korea, thereby verifying the technology’s commercial viability and field deployment capabilities.
Going forward, the company plans to expand the scope of PQC implementation beyond finance and public sectors into industries that process large-scale data, such as telecommunications, platforms, healthcare, and manufacturing. Raonsecure aims to strengthen its leadership in the domestic PQC market by providing quantum-secure systems optimized for each industry’s systems and security environment.
Junga Lee, CEO of Raonsecure, stated, “The supply contract with NH NongHyup Property & Casualty Insurance demonstrates that our PQC technology is gaining traction in real financial service authentication and electronic signature environments. With the enforcement of the Quantum Technology Industry Act, we expect demand for quantum security in both the public and private sectors to grow even more. We will leverage our technological capabilities and experience accumulated in the financial sector to lead PQC transitions across various industries.”
