Russia Launches Large-Scale Ballistic Missile Attack on Kyiv; Civilian Casualties Mount
Russia and Ukraine launched large-scale attacks targeting each other's major cities in the rear over the weekend, resulting in numerous civilian casualties.
According to AFP and other major international news outlets on July 19 (local time), Kyiv and surrounding areas in Ukraine came under Russian attacks overnight, leaving at least one person dead and 13 injured.
Continuous strikes from the early morning hours caused fires in five districts of central Kyiv, damaging civilian facilities such as apartment buildings, office complexes, and supermarkets.
The Ukrainian Air Force stated that Russia launched 41 missiles overnight, of which 18 were intercepted, and 125 drones, of which 108 were shot down. Most of the missiles and drones were aimed at Kyiv.

The previous day, Ukraine carried out drone attacks on the logistics centers of Wildberries, Russia's largest online distributor, located in Elektrostal—about 50 kilometers east of Moscow—and Kotovsk in Tambov Oblast, approximately 360 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Seven night shift workers were killed, and 25 others were injured in these attacks.
