Ecopro BM Unveils All-Solid-State Battery Core Material Roadmap: Mass Production Expected in 2027

Ecopro BM is accelerating efforts to secure core materials for all-solid-state batteries.

View original imageOn July 19, Ecopro BM announced that it had unveiled its roadmap for the development of key materials for all-solid-state batteries at a general investor briefing session (IR) held on July 16 at the NH Investment & Securities headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul.
The company is simultaneously developing solid electrolytes and cathode materials optimized for these electrolytes, thereby increasing its competitiveness in core materials for all-solid-state batteries.
Bohyun Gong, Executive Director in charge of Research and Development at Ecopro BM, said, “We are currently reviewing pilot production with major customers and expect the earliest possible mass production to take place in 2027. We have completed mass production designs and are prepared to begin construction immediately once there is customer demand.”
Ecopro BM has secured proprietary process technology for sulfide-based solid electrolytes, and, after four years of optimizing process methods and compositions, is operating a pilot facility capable of producing 40 tons annually. The products manufactured have also passed quality verification by major battery companies.
Based on its high-nickel cathode material technology, the company is simultaneously developing cathode materials for solid electrolytes. It also stated that it has secured a technological edge in powder control and quality management.
In addition, Ecopro BM is also developing next-generation materials such as LMR (Cobalt-Free Manganese-Rich) cathode materials, cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries, and high-capacity silicon anode materials.
The LMR cathode materials have entered the final verification stage for mass production. The company is conducting cell-level performance verification with major customers, and has optimized its processes to enable rapid mass production, utilizing existing ternary production lines as soon as orders are confirmed.
Executive Director Gong added, “Requests for evaluation and review from new customers are increasing, and we are also developing products tailored to their required specifications.”

For cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries, the company is verifying mass production capability with a dedicated production line capable of producing 1,000 tons per year, and it is also developing polyanion-type cathode materials. In the area of silicon anode materials, Ecopro BM is strengthening its next-generation materials competitiveness by developing its own production processes and conducting sample evaluations with leading domestic companies.
