The signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of Kiewit Offshore in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was attended by Han-nae Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of Planning at HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore, Chad Johnson, CEO of Kiewit Offshore, and officials from both companies.
Kiewit is the largest integrated construction and engineering company in the United States, handling large-scale EPC projects in the fields of power generation, energy, offshore, and industrial facilities. The company has experience in the fabrication, installation, and commissioning of offshore structures not only in North America but also in South American regions such as Brazil.
Under this agreement, the two companies will promote joint shipbuilding in the United States and collaborate on the production of ship blocks and modules. They plan to jointly explore shipbuilding business opportunities in the U.S. by combining HD Hyundai's design technology, equipment supply chain, and construction capabilities with Kiewit's local fabrication and construction expertise.
HD Hyundai aims to use this cooperation as an opportunity to expand its shipbuilding base in the United States, while also establishing a local production system for ship blocks and modules.
An HD Hyundai official stated, "We plan to actively support efforts to rebuild the U.S. shipbuilding industry through our cooperation with Kiewit," adding, "Going forward, we will expand the scope of cooperation to the FDC sector and seek new business opportunities in the rapidly growing North American infrastructure market as well."
