Strong Rains with Thunder and Lightning Expected in Gangwon, Chungcheong, and Southern Regions

On Sunday, the 19th, seasonal monsoon rains are expected to continue nationwide. Strong rain accompanied by gusty winds, thunder, and lightning is forecast for Gangwon, the Chungcheong region, and southern areas, so caution is advised.

View original imageFrom the 18th to the 19th, the expected precipitation for Daegu, North Gyeongsang, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo is 30 to 100 mm, with some areas predicted to receive more than 150 mm. The central and southern inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, parts of Daejeon, Sejong, and South Chungcheong, as well as North Chungcheong, are expected to see 30 to 80 mm of rain, with some places exceeding 120 mm.
Gwangju and South Jeolla are forecast to receive 30 to 80 mm of rain, and over 100 mm may fall in the northwestern part of South Jeolla. The southern part of Gyeonggi, the east coast of Gangwon, Ulsan, and the southern coast of South Gyeongsang are expected to get 5 to 40 mm, while Seoul, Incheon, and northern Gyeonggi are forecast to experience 5 to 20 mm of rain during the day on the 19th.
Morning lows are expected to range from 21 to 26 degrees Celsius, and daytime highs from 25 to 33 degrees Celsius. Major cities will see highs of 30 degrees in Seoul, Suwon, Cheongju, Daejeon, Sejong, and Jeonju; 32 degrees in Daegu; 33 degrees in Ulsan; and 31 degrees in Busan and Jeju.
The fine dust concentration is expected to be at a 'good' level nationwide, thanks to smooth atmospheric diffusion and ongoing precipitation.
