High-Frequency Trading Hedge Funds Among Target Clients
It has been reported that the monthly fee for a service that provides faster access to U.S. President Donald Trump's posts on his social networking service (SNS), Truth Social, could reach up to $100,000 (approximately 150 million won).
On July 17 (local time), the Financial Times (FT), citing multiple sources, reported that 'Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG)', which operates Truth Social, has suggested this fee as the usage cost for a B2B product called 'Truth API' to be sold to corporations starting next month. The Truth API is a service that delivers the content of President Trump's posts to paying users first—measured in thousandths of a second—before they are made public to the general audience.
President Trump often publishes key announcements on Truth Social first, including decisions on tariffs and trade policy, interest rates, and diplomatic matters, which have significant market impact. For investment firms and hedge funds engaged in high-frequency trading, where even a margin of a thousandth of a second can make a financial difference, there is inevitable interest in the Truth API. The FT noted, "A monthly fee of $100,000 is exceptionally expensive by Wall Street standards."
Nevertheless, despite the high price, there are predictions that demand for the service will persist, considering the influence of President Trump's statements on the market. A hedge fund representative stated, "People will have no other choice but to pay," emphasizing, "If you receive news even slightly later, you could be at a great disadvantage in the market." TMTG is reported to have stated that the final price and launch schedule of the Truth API have not yet been determined.

Meanwhile, President Trump holds approximately 41% of TMTG's shares through a revocable trust. The establishment of a 'revocable trust' is one of the common methods used in the United States for managing assets during one's lifetime and for posthumous inheritance. Therefore, if the Truth API service becomes fully operational, the possibility of growing controversy over conflicts of interest also remains.
