Gangwon East Coast Bustling on First Day of Constitution Day Holiday... 150,000 Flock Amid 30-Degree Heat
On July 17, the first day of the Constitution Day holiday, more than 150,000 vacationers visited 85 beaches along the East Coast of Gangwon Province.
Daytime temperatures in the region exceeded 30 degrees Celsius. As the heatwave continued, people flocked to the coast in search of relief from the scorching weather.
According to Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, as of 5:30 p.m. that day, a total of 154,123 people had visited 85 beaches across six cities and counties along the province's East Coast.
Gyeongpo Beach in Gangneung alone attracted 21,714 people who enjoyed swimming and other beach activities. The area around the beach, including cafés and parking lots, was also packed with visitors.
