View original imageThe United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced that on the morning of July 17, 2026 (local time), it had received a report that an oil tanker had been attacked at sea, 19 nautical miles (approximately 35.2 km) east of Khasab, Oman.
The oil tanker was struck by an unidentified projectile, causing partial damage to the port side. According to UKMTO, all crew members are safe, and the vessel is continuing on to its next port of call.
This is the first time in three days since July 14, 2026, that UKMTO has reported an attack on a merchant ship near the Strait of Hormuz.
