‘Inscape Yangyang by Parnas’ Draws Attention with New York-Inspired ‘Glass Edge’ Experience
As Millennials & Gen Z travelers increasingly seek differentiated and unique experiences and enjoy sharing them on social media, they are actively engaging in special experiences that go beyond simple accommodation by visiting unique experiential spaces and landmark venues at their destinations. As a result, travel industry players are fiercely competing to create original content that captures the attention of these consumers.
A representative example is the ‘Edge’ at Hudson Yards in Manhattan, New York—a sky deck built approximately 335 meters above ground, where visitors can experience the thrill of viewing the city landscape while standing on a glass floor. This has established itself as one of New York’s iconic tourist attractions. Recently, interest has been growing in domestic destinations that offer similar experiences without the need to travel overseas.
Amid this trend, attention is focusing on ‘Inscape Yangyang by Parnas,’ which will be built in front of Naksan Beach in Yangyang. This hotel-type residential facility will be constructed as the tallest building in Gangwon Province, standing at 39 stories and 174.6 meters in height. It is expected to become a new landmark in Yangyang, featuring experiential spaces and premium amenities.
In particular, the symbolic space of the complex, called ‘Glass Edge,’ is designed as a glass-floored observation deck that juts out from the building’s exterior. Reminiscent of New York’s Hudson Yards Edge, this space allows visitors to overlook the East Sea through the transparent glass floor, enjoying the combined thrill and sweeping views. This experience—walking as if above the sea, with panoramic vistas of the ocean, sky, and coastline—positions it to become Yangyang’s next must-see photo spot.
The rooftop lounge, which will be installed on the top floor, is also a key space enhancing the landmark’s value. Offering panoramic views of the East Sea and Seoraksan Mountain, the space will serve as a place to relax while gazing out over the open sea during the day, and transform into a stylish rooftop lounge at night. While the Glass Edge provides the unique thrill of standing above the East Sea, the rooftop lounge will serve as a symbolic spot for panoramic views of both the sea and mountains of Yangyang, elevating the overall stay experience.
The amenities will also be at the level of a luxury hotel. The 16th floor will house outdoor infinity pools, indoor pools, a poolside bar, and a fitness center. With all facilities oriented towards views of the East Sea, the design offers premium resort-style relaxation throughout all four seasons.
The guest rooms are also set apart by their design. Thanks to a round exterior structure, every room features a fan-shaped window for wide-open ocean views. There are also independent two-bedroom units for family stays, ensuring both privacy and spatial efficiency.
As workation and luxury hotel stay trends become popularized, the project is expected to meet the demands of travelers seeking high-quality spaces and infrastructure rooted in the region’s unique natural landscape.
An official from the development commented, “Recently, accommodation facilities are transforming from simple places to stay into travel destinations themselves. Just as iconic experiential spaces like New York’s Hudson Yards Edge have become must-visit tourist attractions, our Glass Edge and rooftop lounge will offer visitors a completely new stay experience and serve as landmark destinations representing Yangyang.”
