Son Jaeo, Chairman of the Korea Madangguk Association, has been appointed as the new President and Artistic Director of the Seoul Arts Troupe.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that on July 16, Minister Choi Huieong appointed Son Jaeo as President and Artistic Director of the Seoul Arts Troupe Foundation and presented him with his letter of appointment. Son Jaeo's term as Artistic Director is three years.

View original imageSon Jaeo, the new Artistic Director, has worked as a stage director and served as an artistic director for various cultural and arts festivals. He received his bachelor's degree in Korean Language and Literature from Jeonju University and earned both his master's and doctoral degrees in the Arts, Culture, and Visual Media program at Pusan National University. He has also held positions as an executive committee member of the Jeonnam Provincial Gugak Orchestra, general director of the Shinan International Moon Festival, and artistic director of the Mokpo World Madang Festival, among others.
The Seoul Arts Troupe is a national arts organization that celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. It produces and stages Korean-style creative musical theater, contributing to the development of national culture. Founded in 1986 under the name 88 Seoul Arts Troupe, it established itself as a foundation in 1990 and was designated as a quasi-governmental institution in 2010.
