Lunit Joins "AI Consortium for Drug Discovery" with Eight Global Leaders
Combining Specialized Technologies to Support the Entire Drug Development Process
Lunit announced on the 16th that it has joined the "AI Consortium for Drug Development," which includes eight global companies specializing in artificial intelligence (AI), digital pathology, and precision diagnostics.
This consortium was launched to accelerate drug development and strengthen AI-based pathology analysis and biomarker development capabilities throughout the entire new drug development process, including patient selection, clinical trial operations, and companion diagnostics (CDx) development, led by global pharmaceutical companies.
In addition to Lunit, the consortium includes CellCarta, a global contract research organization (CRO) based in Canada; Indica Labs, a U.S. digital pathology company; Mindpeak, a German AI pathology company; TIBENIX, a Swiss AI precision diagnostics firm; Imagene AI, an Israeli AI precision oncology company; Nucleai, an Israeli AI tissue analysis company; and Deepwise AI, a Chinese AI pathology platform. These are all leading companies in the fields of digital pathology and AI.
The consortium aims to help drug development companies quickly apply promising AI technologies in clinical trials by combining advanced digital pathology analysis, tumor microenvironment analysis, biomarker discovery and precision diagnostics, and clinical operations expertise. Each company will contribute in a complementary role based on its area of expertise.
Lunit supports early detection and treatment decisions throughout the entire cancer care process using clinically validated AI technologies for immune phenotype analysis, biomarker analysis, immunohistochemistry (IHC) quantification, and H&E (hematoxylin and eosin)-based tumor microenvironment analysis.
