Equity-Linked Bond Exercises Reach 3.24 Trillion Won in H1, Up 21.7% from Previous Half
The amount exercised through equity-linked bonds in the first half of this year reached 3.2405 trillion won, up 21.7% from the second half of last year, while the number of exercises increased by 10.7% to 3,166 cases.
According to the Korea Securities Depository on July 16, equity-linked bonds refer to bonds that can be converted or exchanged for the issuing company's shares or shares in another company secured by the issuer under predetermined conditions at the time of issuance. These include convertible bonds (CB), exchangeable bonds (EB), and bonds with warrants (BW). Exercising the rights means that instead of receiving principal and interest, investors convert or exchange their bonds into stock or subscribe to new shares.

By type, the number of exercises for CB was 1,355 cases, down 11.8% from the previous half. In contrast, EB increased by 112.9% to 577 cases, and BW increased by 18% to 1,212 cases. In terms of exercise amount, CB stood at 1.4409 trillion won, down 8.9% from the previous half, and BW decreased by 28.1% to 184.1 billion won. On the other hand, EB surged by 95.7% to 1.6155 trillion won.
