The "Information Security White Paper 2025," the third edition from LG Uplus, covers the accomplishments of the past year, including strengthening security capabilities based on AI and advancing its personal information protection framework.
According to the white paper, LG Uplus responded to more than 200,000 security events last year through its AI-based integrated security monitoring system. The mean time to respond (MTTR) to security events was reduced by more than 90% compared to the previous year. The company has continuously enhanced its threat response capabilities through AI-based abnormal behavior analysis, cyber threat intelligence (CTI), and dark web monitoring.
Additionally, LG Uplus has introduced lifestyle-focused security services through its "My Security Protection" service and expanded its activities to prevent spam and voice phishing damage by leveraging on-device AI technology "Anti-Deep Voice" and its AI-powered spam-blocking solution "ixi Spam Filter."
The company also increased its investments in security and its recruitment of professionals. Last year, LG Uplus invested approximately 96.6 billion won in information protection, a 17% increase from the previous year, and the total investment has grown 3.3 times over the past five years. In 2025, the dedicated workforce in the information protection sector will reach 351 employees, marking a 20% increase compared to the previous year.
In addition, LG Uplus engaged in various external collaborations, including AI-based partnerships with the National Police Agency to prevent crimes affecting everyday life and industry-academia cooperation with Soongsil University to nurture information security talent. Notably, LG Uplus was the only domestic telecom operator to participate in the "Continuous Vulnerability Disclosure and Management System (CVD·VDP) pilot project," led by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Internet & Security Agency, collaborating in white-hat hacker vulnerability activities targeting actual operational environments.
