Sales of Brazilian Eggs Begin on July 16
Initial Supply to Include 23,000 Packs
Baemin B Mart, the quick commerce service of Baedal Minjok, is launching the first-ever sale of imported fresh eggs in e-commerce.
On July 16th, Baemin announced that it decided to sell imported fresh eggs by joining the government’s efforts to import overseas eggs in order to stabilize the prices of agricultural and livestock products during the summer season. Now, consumers can receive imported fresh eggs at home quickly and conveniently, at affordable prices.
The imported fresh eggs introduced by Baemin B Mart are sourced from Brazil (white-shelled eggs) and the United States (white-shelled eggs). Sales of Brazilian eggs will begin on July 16, and U.S. eggs will be available at a later date.
The Brazilian eggs are Extra L size white-shelled eggs certified as grade A by Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply (MAPA). Each egg weighs at least 61.42g, comparable to the commonly consumed XL (extra-large) size in Korea. The U.S. eggs, which will be sold subsequently, are grade A Large size certified by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), with each egg weighing at least 56.7g.
The price is set at 4,990 won for a pack of 30 imported fresh eggs. The initial sales volume will be about 23,000 packs.
The imported eggs have passed hygiene certifications from the respective governments of each country, as well as on-site and precision quarantine inspections by the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency in Korea. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has also carried out meticulous safety checks to ensure compliance with domestic food safety standards.
