[Click e-Stock] "MetaLabs to Benefit from Growth of Hair Loss Medical Market... Competitive Edge with Data from 200,000 Patients"
MetaLabs is expected to expand its new business in the medical sector, leveraging its competitive advantage in a customer relationship management (CRM) platform built on a cumulative database of 200,000 patient records. This comes amid growing expectations for market growth following government discussions about expanding support for hair loss treatment.
Independent research firm ValueFinder stated in a report on July 16 that MetaLabs, led by its affiliate MomoLabs, is expanding its network of hospitals nationwide. The firm analyzed that MetaLabs' CRM platform, founded on large-scale patient data, is emerging as a differentiated competitive strength. Furthermore, the report noted that MetaLabs successfully returned to operating profit in the first quarter of this year, thus laying the groundwork for growth.
MetaLabs, established in 2000 and listed on the Korea Exchange in 2006, operates in the fashion and healthcare sectors. In its fashion business, the company supplies clothing and accessories to various sales channels, including home shopping and online malls, based on five brand licensing businesses and parallel imports of global high-end brands.
As a result of efforts to improve business efficiency and organizational structure through last year, the company reported an operating profit of 500 million won in the first quarter of this year, marking a return to profitability.
The report analyzed that as the government continues to review the possibility of including hair loss treatment in national health insurance coverage, expectations are rising for the expansion of the hair loss medical market. Through its affiliate MomoLabs, MetaLabs provides hospital management consulting and AI-based CRM solutions to specialized hair transplant hospitals, and is expanding its hospital network in areas such as Gangnam, Busan, Daegu, and Suwon.
As of the first quarter of this year, the company is also utilizing investment real estate valued at approximately 71.3 billion won to support the entry and expansion of specialized hair transplant hospitals. This enables MetaLabs to generate both rental income and consulting revenue for hospitals, which has been highlighted as a key strength.
MetaLabs' CRM solution operates as a platform dedicated to hospitals, leveraging patient data accumulated at specialized hair transplant centers. Currently, about 100,000 patient records are generated annually across its network of 24 hospitals, with the cumulative number of CRM-registered patients at partner hospitals estimated at around 200,000. The report also explained that if the database of approximately 630,000 hair loss patients held by affiliate TechLabs is integrated, further data-driven synergy effects are anticipated.
Research analyst Lee Chungheon of ValueFinder said, "Although hair loss treatment methods are diversifying, CRM platforms and treatment simulation solutions based on patient data provide broad applicability, not limited to specific treatments, giving them a competitive edge."
He continued, "Since the company has established a foundation for growth through stable operations and a return to profitability, if demand for hair transplants increases in the future, hospital consulting and expanded supply of CRM solutions could drive growth in new medical ventures."
