"Hi LG, Give Me a Cup of Ice"... LG Electronics Launches PuriCare AI Frozen Ice Water Purifier
Dispenses filtered water, cold water, and ice via AI voice recognition
Recommends water temperature and dispensing volume based on usage pattern analysis
On July 16, LG Electronics announced the launch of the “LG PuriCare AI Frozen Ice Water Purifier,” equipped with voice command controls and home appliance monitoring features.
This product is designed so that after saying "Hi LG" to activate the device, users can receive water or ice through familiar voice commands such as "Give me 200ml of cold water" or "Give me a cup of ice." This allows users to select the desired temperature and amount without having to press buttons multiple times, making it convenient in situations where hands are occupied, such as during cooking. Saying "Stop" during dispensing immediately halts the flow.
The new product features AI-powered customized dispensing that learns users’ usage patterns. By analyzing dispensing data accumulated over four weeks, the system displays up to three commonly used options for water temperature and amount on a control screen.
It also includes a “recipe” function that delivers water at the optimal temperature and amount for 10 types of beverages and food, such as ramen, baby formula, coffee, and green tea. When a user says, “Get me water for 2 servings of ramen” or “I want a cup of green tea with cold water,” the machine automatically dispenses the proper quantity without extra steps. However, to prevent accidents such as burns, users must press a physical button on the front panel after completing a voice command when dispensing hot water.
In addition, the product serves as a smart home hub for controlling other appliances in the kitchen. Through integration with the LG ThinQ smartphone app, users can operate, monitor, and control connected appliances. With a built-in large language model (LLM), the appliance also supports information search. Users can remotely control other devices with commands like “Turn on the air conditioner” or “How many minutes are left on the washing machine?” For queries like “Tell me today’s main news” or “What’s the weather today?” the device responds with relevant information via voice. Appliances currently controllable include nine types such as washing machines, dryers, robot vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, air purifiers, refrigerators, and dishwashers, with plans to expand the range in the future.
The product retains the advanced hygiene features of previous models. It uses the All Puri filter system, which filters out nine heavy metals and eliminates 99.99% of norovirus. The stainless-steel direct water pipes are automatically sterilized with high temperatures once a week, and the water and ice dispensing areas are managed automatically with UV sterilization technology.
To reduce potential voice command errors, a cup detection sensor has been newly introduced. If a cup or container is not detected at the bottom of the device, water or ice will not be dispensed, even if a voice command is issued. The front display size has been greatly increased from 4.3 inches to 6.8 inches to maximize operational convenience.
The new product is available on a subscription model, which provides a six-year contract with maintenance visits every six months. Subscribers receive complimentary after-sales service, regular filter replacements during visits, high-temperature sterilization of direct water pipes, and disassembly and inspection services for the ice storage compartment.
