Prosecution Raids Montage Technology and 2 Others Over 'Semiconductor Component Collusion'
The prosecution has detected signs of domestic collusion among global semiconductor component suppliers and has launched a compulsory investigation.

View original imageAccording to the legal community on July 15, the Fair Trade Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (headed by Prosecutor Na Heeseok) conducted a search and seizure operation at the Korean offices of Montage Technology, a Chinese semiconductor design specialist, Renesas Electronics of Japan, and Rambus of the United States, on suspicion of violating the Fair Trade Act.
These companies are suspected of price collusion while supplying semiconductor components to Samsung Electronics and other firms.
It is understood that, during the search and seizure, the prosecution secured the mobile phones and other items belonging to some company officials.

Montage Technology and the other companies are known to have supplied components to major semiconductor manufacturers, including Samsung Electronics and SK hynix.
