Samsong Data Center Receives Operational Approval
IGIS Expands Digital Infrastructure Portfolio
IGIS Asset Management has completed a data center in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, with a capacity of 80 megawatts (MW), making it the largest data center in the northwestern part of the Seoul metropolitan area.
On July 15, IGIS Asset Management announced that it had received approval to operate the 'Samsong Data Center', which was completed in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. The facility spans five above-ground floors and two basement levels, with a total floor area of 78,290.11 square meters and a power capacity of 80MW. As of its completion, it is the largest data center in the northwestern metropolitan area.
The Samsong Data Center is operated by LG CNS. LG CNS, rated AA (Stable), is the leading company in the design, construction, and operation of domestic data centers, and currently operates global cloud data centers in Busan, Sangam, and Gasan. The two companies have also cooperated on the Hanam Data Center.
The construction was carried out by Hanwha Construction, which has experience completing the Samsung SDS Dongtan Data Center and the Kakao Data Center. The company is currently pursuing LEED Gold certification, expected in October.
Following the Hanam Data Center, for which it handled every stage from land acquisition to permits, development, operation, and sale—the first for a domestic asset manager—IGIS Asset Management is expanding its data center development. Additional data center projects are underway both in the metropolitan and Busan regions. The company aims to establish a digital infrastructure portfolio totaling 520MW and 13 trillion won in assets under management (AUM) by 2031.
