On the 14th, Korea Investment & Securities held the awards ceremony for the 9th Research Challenge, the company announced on July 15. The Research Challenge is a competition for university students, designed to discover and foster prospective analysts with competency and passion at an early stage. Participants have the opportunity to directly analyze markets and industries, present investment ideas, and gain hands-on experience with research work.
This year marks the ninth edition of the competition, which attracted 87 applicants from universities nationwide. Korea Investment & Securities selected 26 finalists after a document screening, and then chose five final winners based on a presentation review.
The Gold Award went to Park Jaeryeong, a student at Seoul National University. Park Jaeryeong received high marks for analyzing the bubble theory surrounding the AI industry—recently a major topic in the stock market—under the theme "AI Rally: An Infrastructure Cycle, Not a Bubble," and for presenting market outlooks and investment strategies for the future.
The five award winners, including the Gold Award recipient, each received a plaque and prize money, as well as the qualification to participate in the Korea Investment & Securities employment-linked internship program scheduled for July. After gaining direct experience in research work during the internship, participants who receive outstanding evaluations may join the company as research analysts after passing the final interview. To date, 10 winners of the Research Challenge have joined the Research Division of Korea Investment & Securities as analysts.
