[Today’s New Arrival] 7-Eleven Debuts Original Japanese Brulee Ice Cream for the First Time in Korea
'Ohayo Brulee Milk' Launches on July 22
Stringent Quarantine Standards Met and Cold Chain Logistics System in Place
Convenience store chain 7-Eleven is partnering with Japanese dessert brand Ohayo Dairy to introduce its signature ice cream, 'Ohayo Brulee Milk,' to the Korean market for the first time. This marks their second collaboration targeting the premium dessert segment, following the success of 'Jersey Milk Pudding' last year.
7-Eleven announced on July 15 that starting July 22, it will launch Ohayo Dairy's 'Ohayo Brulee Milk' in Korea for the first time. This product is an ice cream adaptation of the classic French dessert, crème brûlée. Since its launch in Japan in 2017, it has enjoyed steady popularity and was awarded first place in the premium category of the 2022 Japan Ice Cream Grand Prix.
Ohayo Dairy, founded in 1953, is a Japanese dairy company known for its premium desserts such as pudding and ice cream made with Jersey milk.
Last year, 7-Eleven successfully brought in Ohayo Dairy's 'Jersey Milk Pudding' to Korea. According to 7-Eleven, around 2.7 million units have been sold to date, making it the top-selling globally sourced item and also ranking high among foreign customer purchases. This led to a 493% year-on-year increase in pudding category sales last year.
The company spent more than two years preparing for this ice cream launch. Since 2024, 7-Eleven has been in talks with Ohayo Dairy and carried out a three-month bilateral quarantine process to obtain dairy import approval. A cold chain logistics system has also been established, using a high-speed ferry and refrigerated container shipment from Japan to Busan.
Given that this is a frozen product sourced from overseas, 7-Eleven plans to release a limited quantity in stages. The company expects high initial demand, as the product is already well-known among Japanese travelers.
