According to the district, when the missing person report was received at 3:57 p.m. on July 4, the 112 Situation Room requested a search for the person's travel route from the Integrated Control Center. The center analyzed past closed-circuit (CC) TV footage through its video management system to identify the individual's appearance, then entered the information into the AI rapid search system, which confirmed the missing person wandering around the Yeongdeungpo Park area.

Although the control center communicated the missing person's location to the investigation team, the individual had moved by the time the team arrived. The center conducted a new search to retrace the movements and, at approximately 5:50 p.m., spotted the missing person in a walkway between overpasses near the market. A patrol car, after receiving this updated location, arrived at the scene three minutes later and found the missing person.

The AI-based rapid search system for missing persons automatically searches and tracks distinctive features from CCTV footage to analyze movement routes. When basic information such as the missing person's appearance is entered, the system identifies the same individual. The district secured 200 million won through a Seoul city public offering to establish the system, which has been in operation since December last year.

Jo Yujin, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District Office, stated, "Thanks to cutting-edge AI technology and the swift response of the Yeongdeungpo District Integrated Control Center, we were able to protect a precious life." She added, "We will continue to advance our monitoring systems and strengthen cooperation with related agencies, building Yeongdeungpo into a smart, safe city that protects the lives and safety of our residents."
