Kim Joo-hyung is renowned for his precise iron shots. He often lands the ball near the hole to secure birdies.

On July 13 (Korean time) at The Renaissance Club (par 70) in North Berwick, Scotland, during the PGA Tour's Genesis Scottish Open (total prize money of $9 million), Kim's iron play was once again exceptional. In the fourth round, he finished with six birdies and no bogeys. This victory marked his fourth career PGA Tour win, coming 33 months after his last title at the Shriners Children's Open in October 2023. The winner’s prize was $1,575,000 (approximately 2.36 billion won).

Kim started the final round tied for fourth, one shot behind the leader. He cut three strokes with birdies on the 1st, 4th, and 7th holes in the front nine. On the back nine, he birdied the 10th hole (par 4) and added another after sticking his third shot to 1.8 meters on the 12th hole (par 5). He secured another birdie on the 16th hole (par 4) with a putt from 1.5 meters. On the day, he recorded a green-in-regulation rate of 83.33%. Thanks to his accurate iron play, Kim was able to rack up birdies throughout the round.

Kim Joo-hyung carries two types of irons in his caddie bag: a Titleist T200 (#2) iron for narrow fairways, and Titleist T100 (#4-9) irons designed for attacking greens. Titleist's T series irons are known for their impressive distance and forgiveness.

Kim is set to compete in this year's final major tournament, The Open, which begins on July 16. He said, "Today, I will thoroughly enjoy this victory. I will approach The Open with a completely fresh mindset and start anew."
