A vehicle accompanying Cho Hee-dae, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, was involved in a collision with a passenger car in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, resulting in injuries to three people.
According to Yonhap News on July 14, at around 1:50 p.m., a car driven by a man in his 60s, referred to as Mr. A, struck the side of the escort vehicle for Chief Justice Cho at an intersection in Ongdong-myeon, Jeongeup City.
Due to the accident, two members of Chief Justice Cho's security detail and Mr. A sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital.
It was determined that the vehicle carrying Chief Justice Cho had already passed through the intersection before the accident occurred. On this day, Chief Justice Cho was reportedly in Jeollabuk-do to visit local courts as part of his circuit schedule.
The investigation revealed that the accident took place when Mr. A's vehicle, moving straight through a red flashing signal, collided with the escort vehicle, which was also going straight through a yellow flashing signal.
