The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Wontak, Governor of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province; Yoo Heetae, Head of Wanju County; Jung Sungju, Mayor of Gimje City; Han Jang-an, CEO of Hansol Chemical Co., Ltd.; and Park Sungsoon, CEO of Dongwon Loex Co., Ltd., among others.
This agreement is significant because it simultaneously led to the expansion of production facilities by an existing resident company and attracted a new logistics company. The province plans to use this opportunity to expand both its industrial and logistics infrastructure and further revitalize the regional economy through increased corporate investment.
Hansol Chemical Co., Ltd. will invest 100 billion KRW in its existing plant in the Wanju General Industrial Complex to expand its manufacturing and research facilities for core semiconductor materials.
This investment responds to the government’s semiconductor industry promotion policy as well as increased customer demand. The Wanju plant will be further developed as a next-generation semiconductor material hub, serving both R&D and production functions. The province anticipates the investment will not only enhance Jeonbuk’s competitiveness in advanced industries, but also help create high-quality jobs for local talent.
Dongwon Loex Co., Ltd. will invest 77 billion KRW in the Jiphyeonseon General Industrial Complex in Gimje City to establish an advanced logistics center.
The new logistics facility will address the growing logistics demand from companies within the industrial complex and will transfer some of the existing logistics functions in the Jeollanam-do region to Gimje, positioning the center as a logistics hub for the Jeonbuk area. The establishment of this logistics center is expected to improve the logistics efficiency of manufacturing and food companies, reduce logistics costs, and further enhance the competitiveness of the industrial complex.
The total investment by the two companies amounts to 177 billion KRW. Direct employment will be 40 people, and Dongwon Loex Co., Ltd. expects an additional 105 jobs to be created indirectly.
Jeonbuk Province, Wanju County, and Gimje City plan to cooperate in providing administrative and financial support in accordance with relevant laws and ordinances.
