The Ministry of Science and ICT has officially launched a pan-government comprehensive support task force (TF) to dismantle inter-ministerial boundaries and comprehensively support the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Center megaproject, following the recent National Briefing on Korea’s Grand Leap Forward.

On July 14, the Ministry announced that it held the inaugural meeting of the 'Pan-Government Comprehensive Support Task Force,' chaired by the policy chief for AI, together with relevant ministries, to discuss the necessary support and cooperation measures for the successful completion of the AI Data Center (AIDC) megaproject.

The Pan-Government Comprehensive Support Task Force includes the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Financial Services Commission. The TF will offer comprehensive support for timely site acquisition and stable supply of power and water necessary for constructing and operating large-scale AIDCs, strengthening competitiveness in materials, parts, and equipment, and attracting large-scale financial investment.

The TF will operate as a regular consultative body, meeting once a month, and will also hold 'ad hoc issue review' meetings in parallel to flexibly address urgent matters and challenges faced by the private sector.

The dedicated support group will serve as a channel for resolving difficulties encountered on AIDC construction and operation sites. At the same time, an AIDC alliance will be established to build a cooperative system between domestic AIDC demand and supply companies.

Kim Kyungman, policy chief for AI, said, "We will closely monitor the progress of private investment and, based on a constant communication system between ministries, provide unprecedented support until the very end to ensure the flawless implementation of the AIDC megaproject."
