Even under the new electric vehicle (EV) subsidy system, consumers who purchase BMW and MINI EVs will be eligible for high purchase subsidies.
According to the automotive industry on July 14, the revamped subsidy plan was designed to provide purchase subsidies by comprehensively evaluating electric vehicles based on not only their energy efficiency and single-charge driving range, but also battery efficiency and environmental performance, contribution to charging infrastructure expansion, as well as the manufacturer’s after-sales service network.
BMW’s recently launched 'The New iX3' achieved a perfect score in categories such as 'performance subsidy'—assessed by energy efficiency and single-charge driving distance—charging speed of up to 360 kW, and the first-ever application of the 'V2L' feature on a BMW-branded model. As a result, a state subsidy of KRW 2.75 million has been set. Leading EV sedans including the i4 and i5, along with core electric SAVs such as the iX1 and iX2, have all received the highest possible ratings.
MINI’s The All-Electric MINI Aceman E will receive the largest subsidy among imported premium electric vehicles at KRW 4 million, while the All-Electric MINI Cooper SE will also enjoy the top-tier subsidy of KRW 3.96 million. In addition, the All-Electric MINI Countryman SE ALL4, the All-Electric MINI JCW Aceman, and the All-Electric MINI JCW will all be eligible for state subsidies of about KRW 2 million each.
BMW Group Korea explained that these results reflect both the company’s advanced electrification technologies and ongoing investments to improve the domestic EV operating environment. Since the end of 2022, BMW Group Korea has installed a total of 3,030 EV charging stations nationwide and, as of last month, became the first in the country to introduce a public '400kW ultra-fast charger,' continuing its commitment to enhancing charging convenience for EV users.
In addition, BMW Group Korea is further strengthening its after-sales service capabilities by fostering an industry-leading workforce of 480 high-voltage technicians and experts specializing in maintenance for electrified models.
Furthermore, through BMW Proactive Care, the company monitors battery health in real time. It is also the only imported car brand in Korea to participate in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s pilot project that monitors and reports battery anomalies in EVs, contributing to enhanced EV safety.
