Goryeong County Children Compete in Safety Skills at 'Safety Golden Bell'

The '2026 Gyeongsangbuk-do Children's Safety Golden Bell Goryeong County Preliminary,' where children from Goryeong County in North Gyeongsang Province competed in safety knowledge, was held with great success, creating an opportunity to promote a culture of safety for the future.
According to Goryeong County, the event was held at the Dasan Elementary School auditorium on July 13, with local elementary school students participating in the '2026 Gyeongsangbuk-do Children's Safety Golden Bell Goryeong County Preliminary.'

View original imageThis competition was organized to raise children's safety awareness and enhance their disaster response skills. Participating students tested their knowledge through OX quizzes, multiple-choice, and short answer questions on essential daily safety topics, including fire safety, traffic safety, everyday safety, and infectious disease prevention.
After fierce competition, Kim Jihoo, a 6th-grade student from Ugok Elementary School, won the gold prize, earning the title of Goryeong County's top child safety expert. The silver prize went to Kang Jihwan, a 5th-grade student at Dasan Elementary School, while the bronze prize was awarded to Seok Hyunseung, also a 5th-grade student at Dasan Elementary School. The encouragement prizes were presented to Yun Dagyeong, a 5th-grade student, and Heo Sieun, a 6th-grade student, both from Dasan Elementary School.
In addition, the top 30 students from the preliminary round will represent Goryeong County in the '2026 Gyeongsangbuk-do Children's Safety Golden Bell Semifinal,' where they will compete in safety knowledge against students from across the province.
Goryeong County expects that this competition, structured as an interactive quiz-based educational experience, will help children naturally learn safety rules and serve as an opportunity to spread a culture of practicing safety in daily life.
Namcheol Lee, Mayor of Goryeong County, said, "I hope this event provided a meaningful and enjoyable opportunity for children to learn about safety. We will continue to expand safety education and preventive activities to ensure Goryeong County becomes a safe place where children can grow up with peace of mind."
