Sokcho-si in Gangwon Province will provide a livelihood recovery support payment of 200,000 won per person to all residents.
On July 13, Sokcho-si announced that applications for the livelihood recovery support payment will be accepted from July 20 to September 11.

View original imageEligible recipients include citizens registered as residents of Sokcho-si as of June 30, 2026, as well as marriage immigrants and permanent residents with residency in Sokcho-si. The support payment will be provided as a 200,000 won credit to the Sokcho Love Gift Certificate CHAK application (app) or as a non-personalized prepaid card.
Online applications can be made via the Sokcho Love Gift Certificate CHAK app or the Sokcho-si government website. Prior registration is required for the app. For offline applications, individuals can visit their local community center with a valid ID.
The city will designate July 20 to July 31 as a focused application period, anticipating a high volume of applicants. During this period, applications will be accepted based on the last digit of the applicant's birth year: Mondays for those ending in 1 or 6, Tuesdays for 2 or 7, Wednesdays for 3 or 8, Thursdays for 4 or 9, and Fridays for 5 or 0. Online applications will be available on weekends as well.
For citizens who have difficulty visiting during weekdays, special application windows will be open at eight community centers from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 25. A home-visit application service will also be provided for mobility-impaired individuals, including the elderly and people with disabilities.
The support payment can be used at Sokcho Love Gift Certificate affiliated stores with annual sales of 3 billion won or less. The usage deadline is November 30, 2026. Any unused balance after the deadline will expire automatically.
This support initiative fulfills the first pledge made by Mayor Lee Byeongseon upon taking office and aims to ease the economic burden caused by high fuel and commodity prices, while revitalizing the local economy.
