On July 12, the Uijeongbu High School Broadcasting Club UHBS posted over 70 graduation photos of third-year students on its social networking service (SNS) account. The newly released photos show students parodying a variety of figures, including famous people who made headlines this year, popular movie or drama characters, and online memes.
Among the photos, what stood out the most was the parody of Hong Myung-bo, the former head coach of the Korean national football team, who failed to lead the team to the round of 32 at the 2026 North and Central America World Cup. One student wrote the word "FIGHT" on the blackboard and appeared to be instructing players, reminiscent of a scene from the Coupang Play documentary "National Team: Road to North America," where Hong famously said, "You know the word, right? Fight." Another student dressed up as Hong Myung-bo and posed as if he were sternly gazing at or scolding another student dressed as Son Heung-min.
There was also a student dressed as Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, who visited Korea in June. This student recreated Huang's trademark look by wearing a black leather jacket, mimicking his meeting with top Korean business leaders at "Kkanbu Chicken." Next to him, another student dressed up as a piece of chicken, providing comic relief.
Other concepts included a student dressed as Minami from the girl group Licenne, who recently sparked a viral meme called "Geoje Yaho" and achieved a chart resurgence with it. There were also students perfectly replicating the uniforms of inspectors from the Netflix series "True Education," as well as costumes of Danjong and Eom Heung-do from the movie "The King and the Man Who Lives," and major characters from the SBS drama "Manager Kim," all of which drew attention.
In addition, students appeared as staff from the popular "Smile Clinic" segment on SNL Korea, as well as characters from animations such as "Toy Story," "Super Mario," "Dooly the Little Dinosaur," and "Pikachu."
Since around 2009, Uijeongbu High School has maintained a unique graduation photo tradition of recreating major current events through photography. Each year, the school's graduation photos become a hot topic online and attract explosive popularity.
