TSMC Sets New Monthly Sales Record in June Driven by AI Semiconductor Demand
TSMC Announces June Sales Results
TSMC, the world's largest foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturing) company, set a new record for the highest monthly sales in June, buoyed by rising demand for artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors.
On July 13, TSMC announced through a public disclosure that its sales for June reached TWD 442.68 billion (approximately KRW 2.07041 trillion), up 6.2% from the previous month and 67.9% higher than the same month last year. In May, sales stood at TWD 416.975 billion (approximately KRW 1.95019 trillion), which was the previous record high. As a result, cumulative sales for the first half of this year (January to June) totaled TWD 2.40448 trillion, marking a 35.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
TSMC is the world's largest foundry supplier of AI semiconductors to companies such as Nvidia, Apple, and AMD. According to market research firm Counterpoint Research, TSMC accounted for a 73% share of the global pure-play foundry market in the first quarter of this year.
The supply volume is expected to grow further. Wu Cheng-wen, Minister of Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council, previously stated that TSMC plans to build two additional advanced semiconductor packaging plants in the Southern Taiwan Science Park. The first plant has already begun mass production, and the second plant is expected to commence operations soon.
TSMC did not provide a performance outlook with this sales announcement. U.S. economic media outlet CNBC reported that the company plans to announce its second-quarter results, business outlook for the second half of the year, and investment plans on July 16. The market expects TSMC’s second-quarter net profit to increase by 58.8% compared to last year.
