KS Industry Launches Multilingual Interpretation Platform 'Ami' for Industrial Sites, Laying Groundwork for Global Expansion
KS Industry (CEO Song Byungkwon) is launching an artificial intelligence (AI)-based multilingual interpretation platform to address communication challenges with foreign workers in shipbuilding, maritime, defense, and general manufacturing sites, marking its entry into the global maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) market.
The company announced the release of its AI-powered multilingual interpretation application "Ami" for industrial sites and the enterprise premium version "AmiX." KS Industry views this launch not merely as providing an interpretation service but as a strategic move to strengthen the competitiveness of the nation’s key industries and expand into the global MRO market.
Recently, domestic manufacturing sectors, including shipbuilding and maritime industries, have faced a worsening shortage of skilled labor despite increasing orders. Smooth communication with foreign workers, who are filling this gap, has emerged as a crucial task for both work efficiency and industrial safety. There have been ongoing concerns that, in the field, the mixture of technical jargon, slang, and dialects makes it difficult to convey messages accurately through standard translation services.
Ami and AmiX have been developed to address these specific characteristics of industrial workplaces. Supporting 24 languages, they allow workers to use one-on-one sequential interpretation and multilingual interpretation room features with just a microphone button, without complex sign-up procedures.
Notably, the applications include an industry-specific dictionary that can be directly updated by workers and managers, enabling more accurate translation of technical terms and slang used on site. The company expects this will help reduce work delays and the risk of safety accidents caused by communication errors.
Additionally, features such as an AI friend for emotional support and a wisdom book function are provided to help foreign workers adapt locally and maintain psychological stability.
Industry experts see this service launch as the first step in KS Industry’s industrial AI platform strategy. The company is currently focusing its research resources on developing "SentinAI," a Human Embodied AI-based MRO agent designed to supplement human cognitive abilities.
SentinAI combines smart glasses, bone conduction audio, and a laryngeal vibration microphone to offer an edge small language model (sLM)-based MRO solution that can operate independently even in noisy or poor communication environments.
Recognizing that the shipbuilding and maritime MRO market requires considerable time and investment for technology development, validation, and field application, the company aims to first deploy the Ami service in industrial sites to demonstrate the effectiveness of AI-based communication technologies. Based on the accumulated data and field experience, they plan to accelerate the global expansion of the SentinAI platform.
KS Industry has filed five domestic patents related to these core technologies to establish this technical ecosystem, and plans to secure over ten intellectual property rights, including international patents, to further strengthen its technological competitiveness.
