Jeong Jeomsik: "If Ahn Kyubaek Refuses to Disclose Military Records, Impeachment Proposal Will Be Considered"
Jeong Jeomsik, Floor Leader of the People Power Party, stated on July 13 regarding suspicions surrounding Minister of National Defense Ahn Gyu-baek's military service records, "If (the disclosure of) the military service records is ultimately refused, it would be an act of concealing the truth and deceiving the public." He added, "Following the party's proposal for a recommendation of dismissal, we have no choice but to consider submitting an impeachment motion."
At the general assembly of lawmakers held that afternoon, Floor Leader Jeong said, "If Minister Ahn's claims are accurately reflected in the military service records, there should be no problem with disclosure. The argument that disclosure would only further fuel misunderstandings suggests that the records and previous explanations do not match," expressing his position.

Floor Leader Jeong also addressed the issue of the amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act (abolition of supplementary investigative powers) being promoted by the Democratic Party, stating, "The standard for discussing such issues should be to wipe away the tears of victims and their families, but right now, relieving the stress of the Democratic Party’s hardline supporters is what matters most." He added, "Bad politics must be strongly condemned."
