Muan County Imposes 9.7 Billion Won in Property Tax for July... Up 2.3% from Last Year
47,847 Notices Issued...
Payments Accepted at Financial Institutions and via Wetax Until July 31
Muan County, located in the Gwangju-Jeonnam Integrated Metropolitan City, announced on July 13 that it had imposed 47,847 property tax cases amounting to 9.7 billion won for the regular July assessment this year.
This year's imposed amount increased by 220 million won (2.3%) compared to the same period last year. The main factors were identified as an increase in taxable properties, particularly due to the completion of new apartments in Oryong 2 District.
The property tax is levied each year on those who own property as of June 1. In July, half of the property tax on residences, as well as the tax on buildings, ships, and aircraft, is imposed. In September, the land portion and the remaining residential property tax are imposed. However, if the principal residence property tax is 200,000 won or less, the entire amount is imposed in July.
Payment can be made at all financial institutions nationwide. Taxpayers can use the NongHyup Bank virtual account and local tax payment account specified on the bill, or pay via CD/ATM as well.
Even if the bill is lost, the local tax can be checked and paid using a card or bank account in the taxpayer's name. It is also possible to pay someone else’s local tax by entering the electronic payment number.
In addition, local tax payments can be conveniently made without visiting a financial institution by using the local tax card payment ARS, Wetax, Internet Giro, or the Smart Wetax application.
An official from the county stated, "The property tax is a valuable source of autonomous revenue for local development and the improvement of residents' welfare," and requested, "Please pay diligently within the due date to avoid penalties or other disadvantages."
