Jinju City, South Gyeongsang Province, announced on July 13 that it has inspected the progress and safety management of flood restoration sites at Nabulcheon in Myeongseok-myeon and Hyangyangcheon in Daegok and Jiphyeon-myeon to prepare for heavy summer rains and typhoons.
This inspection was organized to check the progress of restoration projects in areas damaged by last year’s heavy rainfall and to review measures for preventing safety accidents during the rainy season. Mayor Kyu-Il Jo, officials from the municipal river construction department, and local residents attended the site visits.

At the Hyangyangcheon restoration site, he received a report on the project’s progress and safety measures for the rainy season, and inspected potential hazards in the construction area. The city also reviewed its emergency restoration system, on-site safety management, and plans to minimize inconvenience for local residents in preparation for heavy rains.
In addition, the city explained the progress of the restoration projects to residents visiting the sites and listened to their feedback, stating that it will manage the projects to ensure they proceed as planned.
Mayor Kyu-Il Jo stated, “As the frequency of heavy rains and typhoons is increasing due to climate change, pre-inspections and safety management are crucial. We will ensure that flood restoration projects proceed without setbacks and focus administrative efforts on preventing summer natural disasters.”
